The new Bucklick Road bridge between Petersburg Road and Riegel Ridge Road is now complete and this section of road is now open to traffic.



Please note: The Bucklick Road bridge that is south of Riegel Ridge Road is still under construction and Bucklick Road between Riegel Ridge and Bucklick Creek Road is still closed.

Traffic pattern shift on Chillicothe Bypass this weekend

East Main Street ramps to and ramp southbound U.S. 23 also closing for 45 days

Chillicothe Bypass

CHILLICOTHE – A major rehabilitation project on U.S. 23 and U.S. 35 is shifting into the third and final phase.

Beginning Sunday, November 2, southbound U.S. 23 traffic will be crossed over to the northbound side of the highway just north of the Scioto River before crossing back across the median south of East Main Street. Eastbound U.S. 35 traffic will be restricted to the shoulder.

These shifts will allow crews from Shelly & Sands to work on the left two lanes of the bypass and bridges over the Scioto River and East Main Street.

East Main Street
Simultaneously, the exit and entrance ramps to East Main Street will be closed for rehabilitation work. This closure is scheduled to last for 45 days. Just like earlier this summer, traffic entering southbound U.S. 23 or eastbound U.S. 35 can travel north on U.S. 23, exit at SR 159 (North Bridge Street) and return to the southbound U.S. 23. This adds about 10 minutes to the trip. Traffic needing to exit at East Main Street can proceed south on U.S. 23 to the Eastern Avenue exit and flip back north on U.S. 23. This adds about 4 minutes to the trip.

Drive Safely
Drivers are reminded to pay attention, allow extra space between their vehicle and vehicles in front of them, and obey the reduced speed limit through the work zone. Following too close and speed are among the top factors in work zone crashes.

All work on this major rehabilitation project is expected to wrap up in 2026.

From ODOT:

SR 279 between Slab Hill Rd and Four Mile Rd will be CLOSED starting on October 27th for approximately 30 days.

Bucklick Road just north of County Road 63 (Bucklick Creek Road) in Hamilton Township will be closed starting Monday, October 13th for a bridge replacement project. This closure will last approximately two months depending on the weather. Please note this is in addition to the Bucklick Road bridge that is closed between Riegel Ridge and Petersburg Road.

Fairgreens Road in Milton Township will be closed starting Monday, October 6th to repair the road from the damages caused during the June 5th storm. This closure will be between State Route 32 and Wellston Industrial Park Road and will last approximately two weeks depending on our wonderful weather. I was able to acquire an emergency grant to pay 90% of the repair cost through The Ohio Public Works Commission. Please slow down and be cautious in this area. Leave just a few minutes early so you don’t have to rush around on a detour route that you may not be familiar with.

Maybee Karn Road in Hamilton Township will be closed starting Monday, October 6th for two bridge replacement projects. The bridges are close together and are about a half mile from State Route 139. Each bridge will take approximately two weeks to complete.

Scattered showers continue to move through our southeastern counties this morning. A few spotty showers remain possible today, but overall, rain coverage will be much lower. Showers/storms begin increasing in coverage tonight, becoming more widespread Wed/Wed night.
