Last week our mounted unit went before Town Council during a workshop session. Chief Weber pitched the idea of having an expanded mounted patrol program where the Town owns horses. With an inventory of horses officers who may not have been able to do so can join the mounted patrol. The council agreed to moving forward and directed staff to research expenses and policy and come back to another workshop with additional details. During the meeting several of our Citizens Mounted Unit members came out in support. During conversation I mentioned that I don't think there has ever been anyone ride on the Town Square in December (at least in the 25 years I've been associated with the unit). Don, Mary, and Beth decided to be trend setters and take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and go for a patrol ride on the square.
