Beginning October 1, 2026, SNAP benefits in Ohio can no longer be used to purchase sugary beverages. This restriction applies at the retailer level and includes any SNAP card, regardless of the state it was issued in.

Ohio has defined sugary beverages as those listing sugar, corn syrup, high‑fructose corn syrup, or similar sweeteners as the primary ingredient, or as the second ingredient when the first is carbonated water. All fountain beverages will also be restricted.
