Friends of Grace House

Friends of Grace House Grace House Services provides housing and support services to homeless men, women, and families with disabilities, including HIV/AIDS and addictions.

Grace House was founded in 1993 when HIV treatments were not as effective as they are today. People who were HIV positive and displaced from housing due to the economic impact of illness or a lack of understanding of family members were supported through housing and, in many cases, hospice care. Grace House functioned then like it does today as a family where clients care for each other and are su

pported by a compassionate staff of case managers, house managers, directors, transportation specialists, and other support staff. In addition, volunteer groups assist Grace House by providing meals, holding canned food and paper product drives, helping with site beautification projects, and offering education to clients in various areas of expertise. Grace House provides an array of housing services, from our main campus for homeless persons who need temporary interventions before placement in permanent housing opportunities to rental assistance and permanent housing for individuals and families. Grace House also operates a program located in the Belhaven area of Jackson, Mississippi, for homeless chemically dependent women assisting them with continued recovery and housing solutions. Additionally, a food pantry, clothing closet, and transportation services are available to our clients through case management referrals. Grace House has experienced a lot of growth through the years, from a 10-person housing facility in 1993 to housing over 500 people at any given time and assisting approximately 800 people annually. We strive to be an excellent partner to other service organizations, support our clients in any way possible, and be good stewards with all our resources. Our sincere hope is that there will be a cure for HIV and chemical dependency and a solution for homelessness and poverty one day. Still, until that time, our mission is to provide love, support, care, and housing to people who need our services.
