For those who may be unfamiliar with the term, “lying in state” is a time set aside for the public to come and pay their respects to someone who served their community with distinction.

This is not a visitation, and the family will not be present to receive guests during this time. You are welcome to come and go as your schedule allows, spend a few quiet moments paying your respects, and then depart.

The visitation on Saturday will be the designated time for those wishing to personally greet and offer condolences to the family.

Lying in state is simply a solemn opportunity for our community to honor, remember, and say goodbye to our dear Judge Anderson. He certainly is worthy of this honor.

We are incredibly grateful to First Presbyterian Church for so graciously accommodating us during this difficult time.

Judge Anderson loved his church, was proud to be a member, and it feels especially meaningful that our community will have the opportunity to honor him in a place that meant so much to him.

As we continue to mourn the loss of Judge J. Blake Anderson, Jackson City Court will be closed Thursday, September 10, and Friday, September 11.

Jackson City Court shares the funeral arrangements for The Honorable J. Blake Anderson, who faithfully served our court and community for three decades.

His passing is a profound loss, and his absence is deeply felt throughout our City Court family.

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Judge Blake Anderson.

Judge Anderson established the Treatment Court programs in Jackson City Court as a ministry to help people change, heal, and build a better life. He had a genuine heart for others, especially those who were struggling, and his compassion and dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of so many people and families.

Judge Anderson will be deeply missed, but his legacy of compassion, hope, and giving people a second chance will live on through the programs he created and the lives he touched.

Our prayers are with his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
