This week, JCA Paramedic Wil Schikora and MICU Paramedic Jennifer Strouss participated in a training on Hazmat decontaminations, mass-casualty incident response, and a challenging vehicle extrication scenario. The training took place with multiple emergency response partners, including ER physicians from Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, City of Jackson, MI Fire Department , Napoleon Township, MI Police & Fire Departments, and Grass Lake Township Fire Department.
Henry Fordβs Dr. Jackman came up with the idea for this training, and it has been in the making since September. The goal of the training was to help ER physicians understand the response and pre-hospital medical care that occur in the field before the patient arrives at the hospital, giving everyone better knowledge and insight into the chain of emergency patient care and a higher level of preparedness for critical events. Dr. Jackman will be publishing the training along with other pre-hospital care research to a medical journal.
Thanks to everyone for their hard work and planning to make this valuable training possible! And a special shout-out to Garvers Towing for donating the vehicle used in the extrication scenario! ππ
