Jackson Hole Working is a community-driven movement that values the vibrant heart of downtown, a workforce housing market driven by the private sector, the protection of private property rights and the preservation of open spaces and wildlife corridors. We are long-term residents and recent arrivals, members of the agricultural community and small businesses, entrepreneurs and open space advocates
who seek to be a voice included in shaping our valley’s future. We advocate for:
• Jackson Hole smartly moving forward into its future, instead of stepping backward with the policies that have been failures in solving problems and issues over the last 20 years. For example, that we don’t group local mom and pop small business into the same attack as a Marriot hotel. That we value our local community commercial instead of attacking it negatively.
• A comprehensive vision for our community … one that looks holistically at the challenges and opportunities our valley faces – and solves those problems with logical action, not just reaction.
• The vision developed by, and for, our community in the 2012 Jackson/Teton County Comprehensive Plan – a five-year effort that encompasses thoughtful input from across the community including key stakeholders in housing, business, non-profit, education, transportation and conservation.
• A high quality of life for local citizens that doesn’t involve long lines, stifling the ability of new start-up businesses, long waits just to get coffee in the morning, or lunch on the go, a 45-minute commute to work or a two-year-plus long wait for childcare.
• The private sector being allowed to build employee housing ON-SITE on commercial properties, rather than entirely shifting the burden of workforce housing to the public sector and taxpayers.
