🌟 There’s something special about Fort Belmont after dark.

The prairie grows quiet, the historic buildings become silhouettes, and the night sky takes center stage.

On Saturday, October 17, we invite you to spend an autumn evening looking up with us. Local astronomers will share their telescopes and help us explore sights in the night sky that photographs simply can’t compare to seeing with your own eyes.

Bring your family, bring your curiosity, and come experience the Fort beneath the stars.

🪶 Pioneer Days Rendezvous 2026 — Thank You

This is what it takes to bring Pioneer Days to life.

Volunteers. Reenactors. Demonstrators. Performers. Artists. Scouts. Vendors. Friends. Neighbors. People willing to give their time, share their talents, haul equipment, cook food, answer questions, welcome visitors, clean up messes, solve problems, and keep going until the job is done.

Over the past weekend, Fort Belmont came alive because of them.

To everyone pictured here—and to the many people who helped behind the scenes but weren’t able to make it into the photo—thank you.

And to every visitor who walked through the gates, asked a question, joined a cricket game, followed a pirate on a treasure hunt, listened to the music, watched the cannon fire, explored the camps, supported our vendors, shared a meal, or simply spent part of your weekend with us: thank you for being part of Pioneer Days Rendezvous.

We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors and supporters—Southwest Minnesota Arts Council, New Fashion Pork, Thrivent, and Culligan of Jackson—for helping make this weekend possible.

If you missed Pioneer Days yesterday, there’s still one more chance to experience it—and we have a few special Sunday additions waiting for you.

🎩 Abraham Lincoln will be making a surprise appearance at Fort Belmont today!

⛪ Fort Belmont is also proud to host the All-Class Reunion Church Service as part of today’s activities.

Join us today from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM for another full day of living history, music, games, demonstrations, food, and family fun throughout the grounds.

What a day.

Fort Belmont was filled with cannon fire, live music, historic games, artists, demonstrations, families, and plenty of moments that brought the grounds to life.

A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us today, along with the performers, demonstrators, volunteers, Scouts, artists, vendors, and supporters who helped make Saturday such a memorable start to Pioneer Days Rendezvous.

And the best part?

We get to do it all again tomorrow.

The gates are open, the camps are coming to life, and Pioneer Days Rendezvous 2026 is officially underway at Fort Belmont!

Join us today from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM for a full day of living history, music, demonstrations, games, food, and family fun throughout the grounds.

A few of today’s highlights:

💥 New Ulm Battery — Cannon demonstrations every hour on the hour
🎨 Jackson Center for the Arts — Face painting and en plein air artists
🎖️ Boy Scouts — Flag raising at 11:00 AM, with flag retirement immediately following
🏴‍☠️ MN Jack Sparrow — Treasure hunts at 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM
🎻 Triple Fiddle — Live music beginning at 1:00 PM
🌿 Derek & Ariel Barkeim — Nature, frontier ecology, plant knowledge, and friction-fire demonstrations throughout the day
🏏 Historic Cricket with Tom Melville — Join in informal 19th-century games throughout the day

And that’s only part of what you’ll find as you explore the Fort.

The final preparations are underway, and Fort Belmont is almost ready to come alive!

Join us Saturday and Sunday for living-history encampments, hourly cannon demonstrations, live music, historic cricket, pirate treasure hunts, traditional trades, artists, family activities, food, and much more throughout the grounds.

Come early Saturday to hear the opening cannon at 9:00 AM, and stay for a full day of sights, sounds, stories, and unexpected discoveries.

🍽️ Food and drink will be available for purchase.
👟 Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
☀️ Dress for the weather and bring your camera.

There’s plenty to see, hear, and experience at Pioneer Days—and no need to leave when lunchtime rolls around.

We’ll have food and drinks available for purchase throughout the weekend, including:

🍖 Pulled pork
🌭 Hot dogs
🥔 Chips
🍪 Dessert bars
🥤 Soda

Our pulled pork is being prepared especially for Pioneer Days with pork generously supplied by New Fashion Pork.

Grab some lunch, find a place to sit, and recharge before heading back out to explore the camps, demonstrations, games, artists, historic buildings, and everything else happening around Fort Belmont.

And with Triple Fiddle beginning at 1:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday, lunchtime is a perfect chance to fill your belly before settling in for some live music.

📸 Help Us Capture Pioneer Days!

Some of the best moments at Pioneer Days Rendezvous aren't the ones on the schedule.

They're the kids discovering something new, the laughter during a game of cricket, a family watching a demonstration together, a great reaction to the cannon, or one of those little moments happening somewhere around the grounds that tells the story of the weekend.

We're looking for one or more volunteer photographers who would enjoy helping us capture those moments during Pioneer Days Rendezvous this Saturday and Sunday, August 22–23.

You don't need to commit to the entire weekend. If you're comfortable behind a camera and could spend a few hours with us Saturday, Sunday, or both, we'd love to hear from you.

Our goal is simple: capture the fun, the people, and the experiences that make Pioneer Days special.

Bringing Pioneer Days Rendezvous to life takes more than performers, demonstrators, and volunteers. It also takes generous organizations willing to support the many needs behind the scenes.

We’re grateful to recognize four supporters helping make this year’s event possible:

🎻 Southwest Minnesota Arts Council — Grant support helped bring Triple Fiddle to Fort Belmont for live performances both Saturday and Sunday.
