Mississippi Department of Mental Health MDMH is supporting a better tomorrow in the lives of Mississippians living with mental illness.

The Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) administers and operates state behavioral health programs and regional programs for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The behavioral health programs provide inpatient services for adults and children with serious mental illness and substance use disorders, and the programs for persons with IDD provide residential servi

ces and licensed homes for community living. A variety of community services and supports is also available through DMH operated programs and DMH certified providers, depending on the program/provider and location. Proud to announce that DMH recently trained cadets at the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy in Public Safety Mental Health First Aid under Mississippi House Bill 1222 β€” the Mississippi Collaborative Response to Mental Health Act! πŸ’™

Officers from 8 agencies gained practical skills to recognize mental health challenges, de-escalate situations safely, and connect individuals to the right resources. A huge thank you to Mary D.
