We are thrilled to announce the installation of a vital lifesaving resource at Detert Park’s Snack Shack: a SaveStation AED cabinet! 💖 This incredible addition will provide 24/7/365 access to a life-saving AED in case of a cardiac emergency.

A huge THANK YOU to the City of Jackson- California, American Legion Ambulance, City of Jackson Public Works, and Mr. Keith Sweet for their support and dedication to this project. Your commitment to community safety is inspiring! 🙌

Now accepting applications for Volunteer Firefighters, Volunteer EMTs and Firefighters (Per Diem / Extra Help)!

If you’re motivated, community-minded, and ready to serve, we want to hear from you.

🔥 VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER & VOLUNTEER EMT

Applications accepted on an ongoing basis
Entry-Level to Experienced – No experience required

Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Good physical condition
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Willingness to respond at any hour
• Ability to pass a Live Scan background check, drug screening, and physical
•Training Nights: Wednesdays at 7:00 PM

This is a great opportunity to serve your community, gain experience, and be part of a dedicated team.

🔥FIREFIGHTER (PER DIEM)($17.56/hr)

Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED
• CSFM Firefighter 1 (or equivalent) at time of application or appointment
• Valid CA EMT (EMT-1 or EMT-B) or National Registry
(Mountain Valley EMS accreditation required at time of hire)
• Valid CA Driver’s License with Firefighter Endorsement OR ability to obtain
CA CDL (air & tank endorsements / FF endorsement) within 12 months
• Must be at least 18 years old

Additional Requirements for all positions:
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, drug screening, and medical exam

Today, 1/10, marks 11 years since the passing of Captain Franck Tremaine.

Franck’s impact on the Jackson Fire Department and on each of us who had the privilege to know him continues to be felt every single day. He was a mentor, a leader, and a friend whose passion for the fire service set the standard for those who followed. The traditions, values, and work ethic he instilled remain deeply rooted in this department and in the firefighters he helped shape.

New generations of firefighters continue to learn Franck’s story, hear his lessons, and see the legacy he left behind. One built on dedication, humility, and service to others. Though time has passed, Franck’s influence has not faded. His memory lives on in our stations, on our apparatus, and in the way we serve our community.

Franck, you are missed, never forgotten, and forever part of this department.
