This week, some residents from our Mississippi Veterans Home in Tradition visited Chandeleur Brewery in Gulfport.

They explored the whole brewery, from the taproom to the rooms where the b**r is made. They got to smell different grains and hops and learned how each b**r gets its own flavor and color.

We appreciate Chandeleur Brewery for welcoming our Veterans and giving them such a special experience.

Residents from our Mississippi Veterans Home in Tradition organized some friendly games of poker and blackjack for fun, with no real money on the line.

Some of our staff joined in too, acting as casino dealers and servers for our ‘high rollers.’

Take a look at some photos from their Casino Night.

Gulf War veterans, please read this important update.

You have until December 31, 2026, to qualify for presumptive service connection through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This means you do not need to prove a direct link to your service. You do not have to file a claim by December 31, but you do need a healthcare provider to evaluate and document your symptoms before that date so they are on record.

If you served in the Southwest Asia theater, you are eligible for this disability benefits opportunity. You do not need to have served in combat.

If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact your local VA hospital or reach out to a Veterans Benefits Specialist in your area.

Visit msva.ms.gov/serviceofficers to get connected.

Today, our non-profit partner, Friends of Mississippi Veterans (FOMV), donated a new passenger van to our Veterans Home in Tradition.

FOMV Board Chairman Durr Boyles and Board Member Patrick Coleman presented the keys to our Gulf Coast team and MSVA Board Member John “Hoss” Ladner.

We appreciate FOMV’s ongoing support of our agency and, most importantly, Mississippi’s Veterans.
