Shirley Elementary has been selected to participate in Caring4Community: School Edition, a community giving campaign by Mississippi Smiles Dentistry that awards cash donations to local elementary schools – chosen entirely by community vote.

To date, Mississippi Smiles Dentistry has donated over $30,000 to schools and local organizations through our Caring4Community program. We're proud to invest in the schools that show up for kids every day.

Chapter One: “Back to the Basics” We’re kicking off the school year by celebrating our amazing August Scholars of the Month—our “Chapter Champions!” At Shirley Elementary, we believe in “Growing Great Minds…One Chapter at a Time!” These scholars have already shown us what it means to be leaders, learners, and champions in the classroom and beyond. To celebrate their hard work and dedication, our Chapter Champions enjoyed a “cool treat” because great accomplishments deserve a little sweetness! Congratulations to our August Scholars of the Month! Keep learning, keep growing, and keep turning those pages toward greatnless.

Welcome Back, Shirley Elementary Scholars to another amazing school year! We are so excited to see your smiling faces filling our hallways once again. 🎉📚 We Are Ready to Welcome Our Students Back! 📚🎉
Good afternoon, families! ☀️
We are excited to welcome our students back to school on Wednesday, July 29, 2026! 🎒🍎 To help make the first days of school safe and smooth for everyone, please review these important arrival and dismissal reminders.

🚗 ARRIVAL
✅ Car riders must be dropped off at the cafeteria entrance.
✅ Students may be dropped off at the front entrance only after 7:30 a.m.
✅ Students should arrive by 7:30 a.m. if they plan to eat breakfast. 🍽️
✅ Students arriving at 7:45 a.m. or later will be considered tardy and must be signed in by an adult.
✅ Please have your child ready to exit the vehicle when you reach the drop-off area to help keep traffic moving. 👍
✅ Only buses are allowed in the bus loop from 6:30 a.m.–7:30 a.m. 🚌

🚙 DISMISSAL
✅ Car riders will begin dismissal after 2:15 p.m.
✅ The car rider line typically begins forming around 1:30 p.m.
✅ If you need to check out your child early, please report to the Front Office. ⏰ Early dismissal ends promptly at 2:00 p.m.—no exceptions.
✅ Students remaining after 2:50 p.m. must be signed out in the Late Pick-Up Binder located in the Front Office.
✅ Van riders will be dismissed from the front of the building.
✅ Only approved after-school site vehicles may enter the bus loop after 2:00 p.m.

💙 Please be patient during the first few days as our staff works to identify and tag students during arrival. Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe!
