**In Recognition of HBCU Week**
This week, we take a moment to honor and celebrate the profound legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). For centuries, HBCUs have served as beacons of education, community, and empowerment. Beyond their academic achievements, these institutions have provided a sanctuary for many, including Same Gender Loving (SGL) men and others from marginalized communities, long before societal acceptance became widespread.
HBCUs have fostered spaces where identity, culture, and purpose can coexist and flourish. They’ve embraced diversity in all its forms, nurturing generations of trailblazers, thinkers, and leaders. From classrooms to operating rooms, HBCUs have graduated a remarkable number of educators, physicians, and professionals across all sectors of society, empowering them to make lasting contributions to their communities and beyond.
As proud products of **Tougaloo College** and **Jackson State University**, we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. These institutions laid the foundation for our success, instilled in us values of excellence, and empowered us to be agents of change. The bonds we formed, the lessons we learned, and the communities we built continue to shape who we are today.
May the legacy and longevity of these incredible alma maters live on through the excellence we embody in our lives. As we continue to rise, we carry with us the mission of HBCUs: to educate, uplift, and create spaces where all can thrive.
In gratitude and honor, we salute HBCU's
