65 South is blocked off due to live wires being down with poles on roadway in front of rising sun. Local traffic can still get to their houses from the main intersection. Southbound is blocked at the intersection to prevent disrupted traffic from big trucks needing to turn around. We have crews in route to fix this. Thank you for your patience!

Jackson Center units and Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies were on the lookout for a wanted subject who absconded from a halfway house about an hour ago.

Shelby Dispatch was contacted by OSP who had a cell ping in the area on this subject, a black male, 26 yeads old with dreads, named Aaron Walker. Self threats were allegedly made.

With the warrant information and individual information we have on this subject, we are asking the community to do their due diligence of keeping their belongings and houses locked tonight to prevent any more criminal activity or harm. We haven't seen anyone with this description since we began looking, so we think he was just passing through. Nevertheless, stay vigilant. Subject is classified as armed use caution. School was notified, as well as the factories. No news is good news. JCFD and Village workers were also on the lookout in a perimeter around the village.

Thank you for being a great community!

Our JCFD Chief Lotz turned in a birthday card that was found around Jackson/College Street within the previous week. Hoping to get it to its rightful owner! You can reach me at 937-538-0595 by call or text. You'll have to identify who it belongs to before retrieving it in case there is anything of value inside. Thanks for being such a great community!

Several vehicles around the village have remained stationary for several days, which is preventing our snow plows from clearing the surrounding areas effectively. We kindly request that anyone with an unattended vehicle move it before Monday to facilitate snow removal and ensure safe road conditions. Plows will continue after lunch on Monday when things start to melt off. Thank you for your cooperation!

📣📣COMMUNITY REMINDER📣📣
JCPD responds to a large number of false alarm calls every week. Many of these are accidental activations that are not reported to our regional Dispatch.

If you accidentally set off your business alarm, please contact dispatch immediately to let them know.
📞Shelby County Dispatch: 937-498-1111

Unreported false alarms tie up officers, delay response times, and pull resources away from real emergencies. We will always respond when an alarm is dispatched--but when we're handling a numerous amount of false alarms during the day and throughout the week, it creates unnecessary strain on emergency services.

Your quick call to dispatch helps us:
☑️Confirm you're safe
☑️Prevent unnecessary emergency response
☑️Keep officers available for true emergencies
☑️Maintain faster response times for everyone in the community

Thank you for helping us keep Jackson Center safe and making sure we can respond quickly when it truly matters.
