Yesterday I participated in the Powerhouse Texas Energy Policy Workshop and toured the Abilene Christian University’s NEXT Lab to learn more about the future of advanced nuclear energy in Texas. The visit included a tour of the Molten Salt Research Reactor (MSRR) project, the nation’s first Generation IV liquid-fueled reactor to receive a construction permit from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. We also had productive discussions about grid reliability, water infrastructure, and how Texas can continue meeting our state’s growing energy needs while keeping energy reliable and affordable for Texans.

As our state continues to grow, it is important that we stay engaged in conversations about emerging technologies and long-term infrastructure planning. Texas has long been an energy leader, and our future will require an all-of-the-above approach that supports innovation while protecting reliability and affordability. I appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from researchers, industry leaders, and policy experts working on these issues. Thank you to ACU, Natura Resources, the Texas Energy and Climate Caucus, and Powerhouse Texas for hosting us and leading these important discussions.

It was great to be with Tea Party Patriots of Eastland County this week visiting with friends and hearing from Attorney General candidate Mayes Middleton ahead of the upcoming runoff election. We had a great discussion about the future of Texas, the importance of strong conservative leadership, and the issues that matter most to our rural communities. Thank you to everyone who came out and took part in the conversation.

Early voting for the runoff election begins Monday, May 18 and runs through Friday, May 22. Election Day is Tuesday, May 26.

Last night, I had the opportunity to participate in a Youth Town Hall hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County in Gainesville alongside local community and education leaders. I appreciated the chance to hear directly from students about the issues they care about most, including leadership, education, mental health, workforce readiness, and the future of our communities.

The Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County is making a meaningful impact by serving more than 2,000 young people each year and helping invest in the next generation of leaders. Conversations like these are important because they create opportunities for young people to be heard and encourage continued involvement in their communities. Thank you to everyone who helped organize today’s Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon in Graham. It was an honor to spend time with the men and women who serve and protect our communities every day, including our local police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.

In rural Texas, law enforcement officers often go above and beyond with limited resources, long hours, and a deep commitment to keeping our communities safe. Their work does not go unnoticed, and I appreciate the sacrifice they and their families make every day.

Thank you to Phil Denny for the invitation to attend, and to United Supermarkets and everyone involved for hosting such a thoughtful event and showing appreciation for those who wear the badge. HD 68 is grateful for your service.

My office had a great time welcoming around 60 seventh grade students from Jacksboro ISD to the Texas Capitol today. While I was unable to be there, my Chief of Staff, Susanna Feather enjoyed showing the students around the office, visiting about the legislative process, and answering questions about state government. The students also received goodie bags before continuing their tour. We appreciate the students, teachers, and parents making the trip to Austin and hope they enjoyed their day at the Capitol!
