Our team recently completed the "Decon for Risk-Based Response" program, led by Dr. Christina Baxter from Hazard3.

Rather than relying on a standard decontamination process for every incident, the course challenged responders to evaluate the contaminant, exposure, and actual risk. Team members then selected the decontamination method that made the most sense.

Members worked through technical, emergency, and mass decon concepts and compared dry, wet, hybrid, and other decontamination techniques through practical exercises and demonstrations.

The goal was to choose the right decon for the right hazard at the right time. The better we assess and understand the hazard, the better we can protect our responders and our community.
