This year, we are saying farewell to three amazing educators, colleagues, and mentors. They have been a source of inspiration, guidance, and encouragement to countless students and staff members. Combined, they have given nearly 100 years to their profession! Their dedication to education has touched lives in ways that numbers can never fully capture.

Every day, they brought knowledge, patience, and kindness into the classroom. They helped students believe in themselves, challenged them to achieve their best, and created memories that will stay with them for years to come. Beyond academics, they taught valuable lessons about respect, perseverance, and character. The positive impact they have had on their school community is immeasurable.

Thank you Mrs. Kristy Hessbrook, Mrs. Bonnie Simcox, and Ms. Shelly Longanbach for your years of service and commitment to excellence, but most importantly, your friendship.

While you may be retiring from your role, the legacy you leave behind will continue to inspire future generations. Retirement is not the end of a journeyโ€”it is the beginning of new adventures, beautiful opportunities, and well-deserved time to enjoy the things and people you love most.

Congratulations and much love from your South Elementary family. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

P.S. We canโ€™t wait to add you to the sub list! ๐Ÿ˜‰

As the school year comes to an end, our second grade students celebrated an exciting milestone: graduating from the place they have called home for the last 3+ years! During their time here they have worked hard to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and mathematics. They have learned new skills, overcome challenges, made life-long friends, and grown into confident learners.

As they transition onto North Elementary, they will be met by new teachers, more subjects, and greater opportunities to explore their interests and talents. While change can feel exciting and a little uncertain at the same time, these students are well prepared for what lies ahead of them. We look forward to seeing them continue to learn, grow, and succeed.

Congratulations to our Junior Jackets! Remember to always โ€œbee respectful, bee responsible, and bee safe!โ€ Keep dreaming big, working hard, and believing in yourself. The future is bright, and this is only the beginning of your amazing journey. We are so proud of everything you've accomplished and can't wait to see what adventures await you next. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’›

And thatโ€™s a wrap on the first year of our new Mileage Club Program! Students who walked or ran 10+ miles celebrated at a special table during lunch. They each received a medal and a popsicle for their hard work over the last 6 weeks. Donโ€™t worry, we made sure they ate their lunch before we gave them their frozen treat. ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜‰

A big thank you to Miss Stec (with the brown hair) for making this a run-derful experience for our Junior Jackets! We will see you back on the track this fall for the next season of Mileage Club!

Our second graders had a special visit yesterday from Trooper Travis. Students got the chance to see an MSP vehicle up close and learn about some of the different gear that is used on the job. Thank you, Trooper Travis, for taking time out of your day to teach us about police safety!

Our 2nd graders had the opportunity last week to visit the IQ Hub. They learned about Michigan agriculture, made a seed necklace, and practiced their farming skills on the tractor simulator. They were able to explore the IQ Hub exhibits to strengthen their understanding of agriculture and learn more about its history. We are so grateful for all of the hands-on learning experiences that our students receive outside of the classroom.
