There aren’t enough words to express how grateful we are for our high school Jacket Buddies. Thank you for being present, making a difference, and being positive role models for our students. We appreciate the kindness and patience you showed to your littles. Tuesday easily became their favorite day of the week and that’s because of each and every one of you! We hope you enjoyed your time at South as much as we loved having you here.

We have now left the 5th week of Mileage club in the dust! Students have been working hard to earn those Toe Tokens and water bottles, but more importantly they have shown a tremendous amount of dedication in hitting their personal goals and having fun in the process. We have loved hearing their excitement about how many laps they recorded for the day or reaching that next mile they had been aiming for all week.

This Tuesday will kick off the final week of Mileage Club, ending with a special lunchtime treat for those who hit the 10-mile mark. We hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend, but don’t forget to pack your running shoes for the final stretch! 🏃‍♀️🏃

If you ask any of our second graders, they’d probably tell you that there’s nothing better than going to the park, getting ice cream, and hanging out with 70 of your closest friends. We couldn’t agree more and are grateful that they had the opportunity to do so. They enjoyed playing at Reed Park and then chilling with some ice cream from Big Top. It was a perfect afternoon with beautiful weather and great company! Thank you to the amazing people at Reed Park, Big Top, and our very own PTO for making this day special for our friends!

Today, the graduating class of 2026 proudly returned to the place where it all started. For them, these hallways once held first-day jitters, laughter during inside recess, locker conversations, and the beginning of lifelong friendships.

Walking the halls is more than a tradition—it’s a full circle moment and a reminder of where the journey began. No matter where life leads them next, these halls will always be part of their story.

Last week in Music, 1st graders learned a new game called "How Many Fingers." This game allows students to practice identifying numbers and singing in response to those numbers. It's been fun to see the growth these students have made since the beginning of the year!

And into the woods we go…

The weather cooperated so most of our classes could visit the school woods this week. Our goal for the trip was to find signs of spring. Students were able to explore the outdoors, learn about different plants and animals, and enjoy the fresh air. We got to use tools like binoculars to help us see nature up close. We found bugs, inspected leaves, checked out a vernal pond, and even made bird calls! Mrs. Hindbaugh-Marr explained how forests help the environment and why it’s important to protect wildlife. A big thank you to her for a fun and educational adventure!
