KENDAL AT ITHACA
The first Life Care Community in New York State, Kendal at Ithaca has been welcoming new residents since December 1995. People who choose Kendal at Ithaca are a diverse group but share certain common characteristics. They are planners who leave little to chance, and who want to make their own decisions about their futures. Kendal at Ithaca residents enjoy intellectual st

imulation and purpose with the assurance of care when needed. Kendal at Ithaca sits on a picturesque rolling 105 - acre site, nestled in the Finger Lakes region, famous for award-winning wines. We are just minutes from downtown Ithaca, recognized as one of the best small cities in America. Nearby waterfalls, world class college campuses and an active performance scene offer endless opportunities for residents to create new and exciting chapters in their lives.

Sometimes, Mother Nature has her own plans! ⛈️

Although our recent Kendal is Blooming Garden Tour was interrupted by a tornado warning, it didn’t stop everyone from enjoying a wonderful afternoon. Guests quickly moved indoors, where they shared conversations, laughter, and delicious food.
Members of the Priority List didn’t have the chance to fully explore the beautiful gardens that Kendal at Ithaca residents have diligently planted and cared for, but enjoyed talking with current residents about their life at Kendal.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day memorable despite the unexpected weather. We also want to thank the staff who brought the event inside while keeping guests safe and well fed as we waited out the storms.
At Kendal at Ithaca, it’s the people who make every gathering special—rain, shine, or even an occasional tornado warning.

June’s monthly resident chat with Laurie Mante, CEO of Kendal at Ithaca, had a special guest speaker.

Recently, residents had the opportunity to hear directly from two leaders who are helping shape the future of Kendal: Vassar Byrd, CEO of The Kendal Corporation, and Laurie Mante, CEO of Kendal at Ithaca.

In an engaging question-and-answer session, residents asked thoughtful questions about Kendal's strategic direction. Vassar and Laurie shared insights into Kendal's vision, discussed emerging opportunities and challenges, and reinforced the importance of Kendal values in all that we do.

The conversation reflected one of the things that makes Kendal at Ithaca special—a culture of openness, transparency, and Quaker values. Thank you to Vassar and Laurie for sharing your perspectives on the exciting future ahead!

These two are super scoopers!

Each month, residents from the health center and independent living come together to celebrate community birthdays. A beloved part of the tradition is Erica, a longtime resident who volunteers her time to scoop ice cream. No matter how cold the treats, she always serves them with a warm smile, making each celebration a little sweeter.

Over the past two years, The Kendal Corporation has engaged in a thoughtful process to evolve the Kendal brand in ways that reflect both our shared values and the strength of Affiliate organizations.

This brand work resulted in the logo you see below - a "trillium" mark reinforcing the core principles of the Kendal system including:

Congratulations to Patricia Lima, Cascadilla House Nurse Manager at Kendal at Ithaca, on her graduation from the LeadingAge New York Leadership Academy! 🎉

Academy attendees learn to clarify their personal values to create their own unique leadership legacy. The nine-month program focuses on helping leaders grow through relationship building, innovation, continuous learning, and authentic leadership development.

Kendal at Ithaca's COO, Mike Youmans, and Health Services Administrator, Austen Holochak, attended the conference and helped Patricia celebrate this wonderful achievement.
