📢 Statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday March 18th– What to Expect

As part of Michigan Severe Weather Awareness Week, a statewide tornado drill will take place to practice emergency preparedness.

Residents in Gratiot County may hear outdoor warning sirens during the drill. This is only a test and there is no emergency.

Please remember:
Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors. They may not be heard inside homes or buildings, and hearing a siren does not always mean there is an active emergency.

Gratiot County Central Dispatch asks that residents do not call 911 to report sirens during the scheduled drill unless you have an actual emergency. Limiting non-emergency calls helps keep 911 lines available for those who truly need immediate assistance.

We encourage everyone to use this time to review their severe weather safety plans and identify their safe shelter locations.

Preparedness saves lives.
