Happy Labor Day Weekend from Islip Public Library!

We wish everyone in our community a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

Please note that Islip Public Library will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen and resume normal Library hours on Tuesday, September 8.

We also want to give our patrons advance notice of an upcoming change to our schedule.

📚 Temporary Hours Beginning September 14

Due to renovations of three public restrooms, the Library will have temporary, irregular hours beginning Monday, September 14:

📌 Monday, September 14 through Thursday, September 17
🕔 Open 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

📌 Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20
🔒 CLOSED

📌 Monday, September 21 through Thursday, September 24
🕒 Open 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM

📌 Friday, September 25
🔒 CLOSED

Congratulations to our Summer Reading Club 2026 raffle winners! Our librarians are amazed by how many books were read this summer and we hope everybody keeps reading.

We had over 600 people attend the Children's Summer Reading Club party. Fun was had by all celebrating the end of Summer Reading Club for 2026! Dinosaur Racing, slime bar, crafts, balloon art and more, our party ended with our very own "ice age"-a snowy surprise!

Earlier this month, patrons stepped back in time for a day of history and exploration in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. We enjoyed a guided trolley tour with stops at the Muhlenberg Brigade hut site and the original residence that served as General George Washington's headquarters.

The dinosaurs are racing to the Children's Department before our Summer Reading Club ends. Only 10 days remain to sign up, comment on books, and earn prizes!
