River Delta Fire District was proud to host National Night Out, a nationwide community-building campaign held on the first Tuesday in August. The event is designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit, promote camaraderie, and build lasting partnerships between residents and their local first responders.

This year’s event was proudly sponsored by the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA), whose mission is to empower Asian American communities through education and civic engagement.

Approximately 40 community members joined us for an evening of fun, conversation, and community connection. The kids had a blast exploring the firefighters’ fire house prop, while residents had the opportunity to meet with our firefighters, ask questions, and learn more about how River Delta Fire District provides fire protection and emergency services to the greater Isleton area.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this event and to APAPA for helping make the evening possible. Building relationships with our community is just as important as protecting it, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

🔥 Two Days of Training. One Mission: Protecting Our Communities. 🔥

As the smoke clears from our two-day live fire wildland training exercise, one thing is certain—River Delta Fire District Firefighters are better prepared for the challenges of wildfire season.

Over the past two days, firefighters trained under realistic fire conditions, strengthening the skills that matter most. Crews practiced progressive hose lays, mobile fire attack, firing operations, holding, pump operations, communications, and coordinated teamwork.

These exercises are more than just training—they build confidence, strengthen relationships, and prepare firefighters to make sound decisions under pressure. Every evolution challenged our crews to communicate effectively, adapt to changing conditions, and work together safely and efficiently.

River Delta Fire District extends our sincere appreciation to Montezuma Fire Protection District and all participating agencies for their professionalism, support, and commitment to training. We also want to thank the property owner for once again making this valuable training opportunity possible.

“Training is where we build the confidence and competence that our communities expect when they call us,” said Division Chief Taylor King. “The relationships we strengthen today become the partnerships that save lives tomorrow. We couldn’t ask for a better group of dedicated firefighters committed to protecting the Delta.”

Thank you to everyone who made this training a success—from the instructors and firefighters to the support personnel who worked behind the scenes. Your dedication ensures that River Delta Fire District remains ready to respond whenever and wherever our communities need us.

Together, we train. Together, we serve. Together, we protect.

🚒 PUBLIC NOTICE – LIVE FIRE TRAINING EXERCISE 🚒

The River Delta Fire District will be conducting a wildland training burn on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, on private property off Tyler Island Bridge Road near Georgiana Slough.

🔥 What to Expect:

* Smoke will be visible throughout the genera area, including Highway 160.
* Multiple fire agencies will be participating in this training exercise.
* This is a planned and controlled training burn. There is no cause for alarm.

A wildland training burn is a controlled field exercise that allows firefighters to safely train with live fire under supervised conditions. These realistic exercises provide valuable experience in wildfire suppression tactics, fire behavior, constructing firelines, working as coordinated teams, and safely managing smoke and changing fire conditions. Training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond effectively during California’s increasingly challenging wildfire seasons.

The Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC) will be notified that the River Delta Fire District will be conducting this training exercise.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the property owner for generously allowing the use of their property for this important training. Partnerships like this are invaluable and play a vital role in helping us prepare to protect the residents, visitors, businesses, and natural resources of Isleton and the Delta communities.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to train for the emergencies we hope never happen but must always be prepared to face.

We will keep you informed, If anything changes.

As wildland fire season approaches, preparation is everything.

Today, Battalion Chief Casey McSunas led River Delta Fire District personnel through hands-on training in pump operations, drafting techniques, and deployment of our 2,200-gallon water tender and pumpkin. Crews practiced establishing reliable water supplies, operating apparatus efficiently, and sharpening the skills needed to support both structural and wildland firefighting operations.

Continuous training ensures our firefighters are ready to respond safely and effectively when the next call comes—whether it’s protecting homes, farmland, or the unique Delta communities we proudly serve.

Thank you to Battalion Chief McSunas for sharing his knowledge and commitment to developing our firefighters. The time invested in training today builds the confidence and capability needed when lives and property are on the line.

🇺🇸 River Delta Fire District Personnel Deployed to Support Utah Wildfire Response

River Delta Fire District is proud to announce that two of our overhead personnel have been deployed as part of a pre-position assignment to the State of Utah due to the increased wildfire activity.

Both members are assigned to Incident Management Team 6, serving in the Communications Unit, where they provide the critical communications systems that keep incident personnel connected and support safe, coordinated wildfire operations.

Pre-positioning qualified resources ahead of extreme fire weather allows the national mutual aid system to respond more quickly when new fires occur. We are honored that our personnel have been selected to represent River Delta Fire District and to assist our neighboring states during this challenging fire season.

Please join us in wishing them a safe deployment. Thank you for your continued dedication, professionalism, and service to the fire service and the communities we protect.

Stay safe, and we’ll see you when you return home. 🚒🔥
