Red Top, Minnesota Small rural community in Aitkin County Red Top is a small unincorporated community in southern Aitkin County, MN.

It once boasted stores, a railroad station, hotel, school, church, post office, homes and other buildings. The businesses are all gone, but homes and memories captured in stories and photos remain.

Some beavers have been busy not far from downtown Red Top, roughly across the trail from where the railroad station used to be. They've cleared a pretty good channel through the swamp heading east. It seems that they are unconcerned with humans.

At about 7 minutes to 7 there was a heck of a loud boom in the distance that shook the ground in Red Top.

There is a missing cat south of Red Top, around County Road 60 and the county line. Seen today by Kris Eye Thompson at her house. She located the owner and now needs to relocate the cat. The cat is calico with a bobbed tail and is wearing a teal harness. She’s been lost since June. You can post here if you see or find the cat. Would be good to get her home before the weather gets colder. You can post reports in the comments.
