Isle of Palms Fire and Rescue had a great time with Camp Summershine at the Isle of Palms Recreation Center during water day! We put our aerial device to good use and created a mobile water park. We also took the opportunity engage in community risk reduction activities on fire safety and exit drills in the home.

Isle of Palms Fire & Rescue is getting a physical...agility test that is! Our new Job-Related Agility Test in partnership with the Town of Mount Pleasant Fire Department has been set up to help our members better commit themselves to the physical requirements encountered during firefighting. Thank you Town of Mount Pleasant for sharing this agility course with us!

Congratulations to Captains Hall & Fassos for completing a rigorous 2-week-long Fire Officer 3 training course! The course was hosted by Summerville FD with a final presentation due in front of Summerville's City Council. We thank all that were involved and are proud to have our talented Captains representing Isle of Palms Fire and Rescue.

It's hurricane season! Are you getting prepared? We are: A few weeks ago our staff, alongside city administration, set up the Municipal Emergency Operations Center for a hurricane drill to make sure all the pieces worked smoothly.

Water Rescue takes great teamwork and coordination. Ocean conditions were light but always challenging. B-shift personnel were able to utilize Boat 1012 in multiple scenarios to keep their skills sharp.

Huge thank you to Sealand Adventure Sports & Scott Hyland for coming to teach us about kiteboarding setup and safety! We have a lot of kiteboarders around Sullivans Island and IOP, special care is needed to avoid becoming tangled in the lines while performing a kiteboard rescue. Impressively, we learned that most kiteboarders can self-rescue when trained properly.
