Town Reports are available at the Store and in the Town Hall reading room for those of you on island. For our summer taxpayers, your reports will be mailed out next week. As always, a digital version of the town report is on our Town Website https://www.isleauhautmaine.us/public-records-and-documents/

If you haven’t already, go check out the fresh paint at the Town Hall. The painting crew was able to finish up in just 4 days. Our Selectboard and Treasurer also put some elbow grease in and got the stage and office stairwell sanded and painted. Could some new stage curtains be next? Who knows….

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING:
A reminder that the Annual Town Meeting will take place on April 27th, at 8:30 AM, at Revere Memorial Hall. There will be a potluck lunch, so bring a dish to share if you can. We will also have a coffee and baked goods table setup as usual. This year any donations will go toward replacing the stage curtains.

The attested Town Meeting Warrant will be posted on bulletin boards at least 7 days prior.

Town Hall Gymnasium Closure Notice:
The Town Hall gymnasium will be closed to the public while being painted, from April 13 through April 19.
Town officials will continue to have access to the stairwell in order to access the Town Office upstairs. Community members may also access the gym area during Tax Collection Hours on Wednesday from 7:00–8:00 PM in order to get to the office upstairs.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but this will ensure our painting crew is not disrupted and can efficiently get the job done.

Please email a Selectboard member if you have any questions.

We have many skilled community members out here on our little island, and welding is one of those skills. Check out these photos of our new welded aluminum gymnasium window protectors. These are slightly lighter, easier to remove, and super cool looking!

We bid farewell to our old wooden window protectors that saved the windows from basketballs and volleyballs for many years.

Thanks for your welding skills Edison!

You all may see a few more Town Hall improvements throughout the spring… 🎨 🖌️🪜

We are getting very close to wrapping up our Comprehensive Plan, woohoo!!
NOTICE FROM COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMITTEE:
Dear Members of the Island Community,

The Isle au Haut Comprehensive Plan is now available for public review.

The draft plan is posted on the Town website, and the Comprehensive Plan Committee is accepting written comments through February 10. This initial review period allows the Committee to incorporate local feedback while revisions are still relatively easy to make, before the plan is submitted to the State.

After reviewing comments and making any final updates, the Committee will send the plan to the State of Maine for review. The State’s Municipal Planning Assistance Program and other state agencies will review the plan, and that process includes an additional public comment period.

For anyone who needs assistance accessing the plan or submitting comments, the library is available during normal operating hours to help.

Community input is an important part of this process, and reviewing the plan now helps ensure local priorities and concerns are reflected early.

Learn more and review the plan here:

As we all prepare for the incoming snowstorm, here are a few reminders:

Plowing:
Our plow drivers will do their best to keep up with snowfall this evening through Monday. However, we only have two plow trucks, so if you are able, it’s best to stay put and hunker down. Our plow drivers will do their best to keep up with the snow.

Power Outages:
The island generator is fully fueled in the event of a mainland power outage. That said, on-island outages are always possible, particularly on the East Side. It may not be safe for the power crew to respond during the storm, so please plan for the possibility of a prolonged outage. We recommend turning up your heat in advance and filling jugs of water. As a reminder, the Town Hall and Library are available as warming spaces during partial island outages.

Safety Reminder:
Most importantly, please remember that there is currently no EMS on the island, and no ferry service from noon today through Tuesday morning. Please take extra care, limit unnecessary driving, and stay safe.
Thank you all for your cooperation and preparedness.
