(1)

Harriman State Park of Idaho encompasses 11,000 acres within the Yellowstone Ecosystem. Its 24 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails takes visitors through meadows and forest and along rivers and streams. Fly fishing the eight mile stretch of the Henrys Fork through the park is considered by many to be the pinnacle dry fly angling experience. Deer, elk, moose, bear, trumpeter swans

and large numbers of migrating waterfowl provide an unparalleled wildlife viewing experience. Unique overnight accommodations, like our rustic yurts or cabins, allow everything from a couple’s get-away to large business retreats and family reunions. During the winter months, high snow levels offer excellent groomed Nordic ski trails for both classic and skate skiers.

Summer season is upon us at Harriman State Park!

Today is June 15th, which signals that our spring trail closures for waterfowl nesting have ended. All trails that are in proximity to the Henrys Fork River are once again fully accessible to hikers, bikers, horseback riding and fishermen.

If you've got a current Idaho fishing license, come to River Trail and try your luck at catching that big one in the river. Hankering for a horseback ride with close-up views of the Henrys Fork? Contact Havilands Old West Adventures at 208 613 9974 to schedule a guided horseback ride along Big Bend Loop. Want to go on a short hike to learn all about conservationist John Muir and how he helped shape Harriman State Park? Park next to the Visitor Center and meander along the John Muir Trail to learn more.

As a reminder, all anglers must abide by Idaho Fish and Game regulations. Please contact your local Fish and Game office with any questions you may have about where you can fish, what you can fish for, and whether spin or fly fishing is allowed. As an fyi, the Harriman Fish Pond off the Mesa Falls Byway is a lovely, quiet spot to bait fish in a serene location.

Bears are around, as always, so make sure you are Bear Aware:
-always carry bear spray and know how to use it
-carry a bear bell and make lots of noise
-do not utilize park trails between dusk and dawn
-travel in groups; bear encounters decrease significantly the more people are in your party 🐻

Leashed pets are ONLY allowed in parking lots, under the control of their owner. Pets are not allowed on roads, trails or in buildings. Please remember that Harriman State Park lies within a Wildlife Refuge, so always respect wildlife and give them plenty of room.

Harriman is your #1 stop in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem for summer fun, family adventures, and lifelong memories. Come say hello, and enjoy your Idaho State Park! 🐟
