We are a village that embodies the simple down-home mentality of a small town, while running efficiently and providing a cost benefit to our residents. The Village of Island Lake was conceived in the 30’s by a group who saw value in creating a lake from the surrounding farm fields and offering city dwellers the perfect little cottages to escape to on the weekends. Island Lake owes its growth to th

e 1926 construction of a 265-foot dam located on Route 176 at Gate 3. In the ensuing decades, Island Lake has prospered into a thriving community, supporting over 65 full and part-time employees who are charged with serving and protecting more than 8000 residents. Island Lake boasts the 2007 Governor's Hometown Award, top-rated schools, fun and inviting community events, an award-winning library, numerous parks, and several public beaches.
