Move out season in Isla Vista is upon us! In past years, over 1.2 million pounds of furntiture, garbage, and mattresses have been left on out streets. Let's all pledge to accordingly and donate belonging that you won't be moving! 🍃♻️

Additionally, starting TODAY, MarBorg will pick-up at the curb line bulky items BEFORE 5PM. Items include, mattresses, couches, chairs, bookshelves, or other items too large for a collection container. Learn more at the link below.

The Isla Vista CSD is hiring! We are looking for qualified applicants for two separate position: Community Engagement Director and Compost Collective Program Manager.

The Community Engagement Director is a high-level leadership role that will help us build stronger relationships within Isla Vista and the wider community, to expand awareness and utilization of the District’s services, and to regularly engage, educate, and gather feedback from community members.

Almost 7 years to the day from the May 23, 2014 tragedy, our community is once again reeling from another act of gun violence. We are thankful that it appears no one has been seriously injured. As of yet, there has been no timely notification to the residents of Isla Vista, leaving us all in the dark about a dangerous incident that occurred in our community. The absence of a timely notification creates alarm and confusion, and prevents local residents from taking proactive measures to keep ourselves safe. Anyone 16 years and older in Santa Barbara County is now eligible for the covid vaccine! Yesterday I got the first dose at the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department clinic. The staff there were very friendly and helpful, and I’m so thankful for all of our health workers who have worked so hard throughout this pandemic.
