This Wednesday at 5:30pm, Jeffrey Holden will be here at the library to give a presentation on the Wolf-Moose Predator-Prey Study on Isle Royale. This presentation will include a discussion of Isle Royale, the history of the Wolf-Moose study and a look at moose and wolf bones. He is also the author of the Michigan Notable Book, "Dead Moose on Isle Royale: Off Trail with the Citizen Scientists of the Wolf-Moose Project."

⏰A library millage proposal is on the November 3 ballot! For the first time ever the city of Ishpeming is requesting a 6-year millage at 2.5 mills to dedicate funding for the library. If the proposal is funded library operations will continue at the current level and the funds will be reserved for the library. 💌Everyone say thank you to our Friends of the Library! After receiving the news that the budgeted city funds were no longer available to purchase circulating materials for the rest of the year, our Friends of the Library made a one-time emergency donation so we could still purchase books for the rest of 2026!💌

📽 Check out what else we found in the closet! Someone asked whether this box could contain old film reels: yes! There are film reels included in the Leadership Education Audio-Visual Kit, as well as vinyl records and print materials.

💽This first distance-learning course (circa 1950) was produced by the Jam Handy Organization, founded by Henry Jamison "Jam" Handy. Jam Handy won a bronze medal in the 440-yard breaststroke at the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, Missouri and was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1969. He resided in Detroit, where his company was based, until his death, at 97 years old, in 1983. The Jam Handy Organization produced a series of fantasy sales films for Chevrolet in the 1930s, the first animated version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in 1948, and thousands of films for the armed services during WWII.
