With an increase of reported dog at large and dog bite complaints we have been receiving. We would like to remind residents of their responsibilities regarding the owning and keeping of dogs and cats in the city limits. Please see the attached Ordinance 10-100.

Our department would like to warn residents of a financial scam being reported to us. Investigation into the scam shows the suspect(s) are likely based in Mexico or overseas. The suspect(s) utilize spoofing tactics to appear as a trusted source through email.

The tactic utilized by the scammer(s) is presenting themselves as a legitimate person you may know and are requesting a change to their financial institution, account number, routing numbers etc. The scammer(s) use pre-paid cards / fintech.

Please use caution when receiving any type of calls/texts/emails regarding finances.

Congratulations to the "Pigs" who won the Marquette County Pigs-N-Heat Fire Relief Fund charity hockey game last night! Thank you to all who attended as well as to those who donated to the great cause!!!

Another congratulations to the Ishpeming Public Schools Girls Varsity Basketball team on their Div 4 State Championship!!! We will be awaiting your arrival to bring you back to the City of Ishpeming.

UPDATE 9:40 am 2-25-2026:

The Gas has been cut off to the VFW by SEMCO. Residents may return home at this time. There is no danger to the community.

Important: Barricades will remain in place until the utility company finish up some work. Please stay clear of the barricaded area to allow them to work.

FYI

Emergency personnel currently have the block around the VFW downtown blocked off (6:30 am) and have evacuated that block due to the VFW building collapsing and a gas leak - SEMCO is currently on scene as well

On Saturday, December 13th, 2025, Officer Bryant and Chief Radabaugh participated in the annual Shop with A Cop event. Chief Radabaugh teamed up with the event representing Books & Badges and through their partnership all 59 kids involved in the event were gifted books.

This was a wonderful event and a great way to kick off this Holiday Season.

RENTAL CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.

The City of Ishpeming is seeking a self-motivated individual to serve as Rental/Code Enforcement Officer. This position performs a variety of routine and complex work in the interpretation and enforcement of Ordinance 7-500 Rental Inspections including inspections, assisting with cases being prepared for trail/hearings; compiling information and exhibits; and assists with code enforcement issues/matters. The position is part-time at approximately 36 hours per week but can be increased or decreased by the employer based on workload.

Prefer experience with enforcement of civil infractions and misdemeanors, building codes, and building/construction. The position works under the direction of the Chief of Police.

Submit a cover letter, resume, and a City of Ishpeming job application form (available at City Hall or the City of Ishpeming website) to the City Clerk at 100 E. Division St., Ishpeming, MI 49849 or email to [email protected]. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025. The City of Ishpeming is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
