Today, Sergeant Nick Lopez and Officer Albert Penaloza proudly represented the Irwindale Police Department Honor Guard at the 57th Annual Los Angeles County Peace Officers Memorial.

We honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the eight Los Angeles County officers who gave their lives protecting their communities in 2025, including Officer Samuel Riveros from our neighbors at the Baldwin Park Police Department. The Irwindale Police Department Honor Guard attended the California Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony at the California State Capitol, standing in solemn remembrance of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

Our department was personally impacted by the line-of-duty death of Officer Samuel Riveros from the Baldwin Park Police Department, with whom many at Irwindale PD shared a close friendship. His loss is felt deeply, and his memory will always remain with us. It was an honor to pay tribute to him, reflect on our shared memories, and remember his courage, dedication, and service.

Deputy March’s bravery and dedication to serving and protecting our community will never be forgotten. We honor his memory and the legacy of all law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
