Penn Township Ambulance Technical Rescue Division fills a need for technical rescue services in western Westmoreland County. The technical rescue division can be requested to assist in any rescue incident. We specialize in Swift Water Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Low Angle Rescue, Tower Rescue, and Confined Space Rescue. In addition to these specialty rescues, we are also capable in performing structural collapse rescue and trench rescues.

For about four hours last night our Swift Water Rescue Team assisted Monroeville Fire Dept. Co. #4 in the area of Abers Creek Road during a flash flooding incident. Thankfully everyone made it to safety

Lowering and raising a Medical-Rescue Technician and/or patient is a basic skill every technical rescue team must know. Transitioning between lowering and raising systems while a rescuer/patient is still on the rope system is a more advanced skill that we practiced during our October training. The goal of this training was to lower the rescuer/patient as close to the water as possible and then raise them back to the bridge without touching the water.
