From Friday, April 10 - Sunday, April 12 at the Westin Galleria in Dallas, a total of 372 middle school and high school students participated in the MUN State Assembly Conference. This program is a student-led program, and the conference was managed and executed by our high school participants.

There were 12 committees students participated in. During committee time students, represent a country, discuss the topic and try to come up with a resolution, which is passed/agreed upon by the committee, to the issue being discussed.

Programs like these provide today's teens with exposure to real-life political situations in a mock setting and help provide them the foundation to become future leaders. We are extremely proud of each teen that participated in the Texas Model UN program during the 2025-2026 school year.

Summer vacation is coming up quick, and the YMCA proudly offers safe, fun, and engaging camp programs for children and teens. If you're child is not ready for an overnight camp experience, we offer day camp programs for preschool and school age children. Today is Diabetes Alert Day and is a day to raise awareness on the seriousness of diabetes and to find out if you're at risk.

According to the CDC, 40.1 million people are diabetic, that's about 1 in 8 people! More than 1 in 4 adults with diabetes do not know it.

We do not want any of you to be 1 in 4, so we encourage you to please take our risk assessment to see if you're as risk. If caught early, you can reduce your chances of developing type II diabetes. 

When you're prediabetic, your blood glucose is high, but not high enough for you to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This is where the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program can help.

In 2025, we successfully started three cohorts from October to December with 38 participants, thanks to the generous support of our United Way Grant.

Remarkably,

▪️13% have lost 7% weight loss.
▪️25% have lost at least 5% weight loss.
▪️43% have lost at least 3% weight loss.
