SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH! Disasters and emergencies can happen anywhere, anytime—but a little preparation can make a BIG difference. This month, we’re challenging you to get your household emergency-ready! Preparedness starts at home, and everyone has a role to play.

CHALLENGE #1: KNOW YOUR NUMBERS!
Could you name your own phone number from memory? What about a loved one’s? If you couldn’t answer, you’re not alone! Take a few minutes today to:
✅ Write down important phone numbers
✅ Keep a contact list in your wallet, purse or backpack
✅ Make sure everyone in your household knows how to reach one another

BONUS PREPAREDNESS TIP: Choose meeting places in case your family gets separated—one near home, one in your neighborhood and one outside your area.

Please join us in congratulating Jeffrey Hogan on his promotion to Assistant Chief! Chief Hogan brings 20 years of dedicated service to IFD, along with extensive operational and leadership experience. He has served as a tactical paramedic, Technical Rescue Team member, Battalion Chief of Training and Communications, and Acting Assistant Chief of Administration.

With a master’s degree in Fire and Emergency Management Administration, numerous professional certifications, and 10 years of service with Texas Task Force II, Chief Hogan’s experience and commitment make him exceptionally well qualified for this role. Chief Hogan has served as Acting Assistant Chief for the past 17 months, creating a seamless transition as he officially assumes the position.

Congratulations, Chief Hogan! We look forward to your continued leadership and service to the Irving community.
