John F. Townley Elementary, Irving ISD John F. Townley is an elementary school in Irving ISD. Our House is Your House The school is located at 1030 Vilbig Road and South MacArthur Blvd.

It opened in 1976 and is named after Dr. John F. Townley, who served as IISD superintendent from 1970–1985. In 1977, all IISD schools – elementary, junior high school and senior high school – were accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. During his tenure, central libraries were added to all elementary schools; physical education and art teachers were employed in each elemen

tary school; one elementary school and three junior high schools were built; and several new curriculum programs were added to the secondary schools.
