After we shared our Wanted Wednesday post this week, we got multiple tips.

Yesterday, Dean Melmoth, 58, of Irvine, turned himself in after officers tried to contact him at his residence. He was booked at Orange County Jail on an assault with a deadly weapon charge.

We appreciate the community for helping us with this case.

Original post: - This man allegedly ran across the Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course on the evening of August 29, 2026. When a golfer confronted him, the man began chasing the golfer. The golfer tried to get away in his golf cart, but the suspect caught up, took a golf club from the cart, and struck the golfer in the head. The suspect then fled the area.

On the evening of August 1, this woman was caught on security video shoplifting two lithium jump-starter packs from the Harbor Freight store at Armstrong and Barranca. She was seen getting into the passenger side of an older model black Chevrolet SUV, possibly a Traverse, that was waiting for her in the parking lot.

She has been captured on cameras shoplifting from several retail stores throughout southern Orange County, and we are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating her.

Did you catch the BNSF America 250 train pass through Irvine this week? The timing was perfect for us to share some safety information in honor of .

Every train crossing in the US has a blue emergency sign with an emergency phone number and crossing information. If you spot a hazard or get stuck on train tracks, call the number to report the incident. Please also call 9-1-1 so local law enforcement is aware too.

And one more fun fact, the train tracks in the west industrial area of Irvine are still active. They may look old, but BNSF makes deliveries to local businesses at night on those tracks.

UPDATE: On Friday, Michael Boles was located in the City of Anaheim and was returned to his home in Irvine. Thank you to those who shared their concerns and provided tips to reunite Michael with his family.

ORIGINAL POST - 08/26/2026: We need your assistance locating Michael Mazouz Fawzy Boles, 36, was last seen August 15th at 1 a.m., leaving his home in the Woodbridge Community. We do not know what he was wearing, and he left without his cell phone or wallet. We also believe he does not have a vehicle. We recently got a tip that a man was using disabled placards to store his cars in disabled parking spaces at an apartment community. Traffic Detectives investigated and determined six cars had bogus placards. On Friday, the man was arrested, and the placards were seized.

There is zero excuse for placard abuse, and those taking advantage of the system can expect strict enforcement.

*UPDATE* 11:53 a.m. - Otama has been found and is being reunited with her family. Thank you to our community member who saw our social media post, located her, and called the police department!

MISSING PERSON: We are asking for your help finding Haruko “Otama” Sawada, who was last seen walking near Harvard Avenue and Irvine Center Drive.

Otama was last seen wearing a blue cardigan and gray pants. She may have removed the cardigan and could now be wearing a white shirt and gray pants.

Otama has a medical condition that may make it difficult for her to communicate. If you see her or know where she may be, please call 9-1-1.
