The Garden Grove incident is transitioning out of the emergency response phase.

Beginning Friday, 5/29, at 8 a.m., the OC Health Care Agency (HCA), serving as the County’s Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), will assume lead oversight authority for site cleanup and waste removal operations.

Garden Grove Hazardous Materials Incident Unified Command Statement:

Unified Incident Command is pleased to report that the Garden Grove hazardous materials incident has been stabilized and all evacuation orders have been lifted.

Through the coordinated efforts of fire personnel, hazardous materials specialists, law enforcement, public health officials, and environmental specialists, all residents have safely returned home.

Thank you to the community for your patience, cooperation, and support throughout the entirety of this incident.

🚨 ALL EVACUATION ORDERS LIFTED 🚨

All evacuation orders related to the Garden Grove hazardous materials incident have been lifted.

Unified Command (Fire, Law, EPA, and County Health) have confirmed there is:

✅ No chemical leak
✅ No threat of explosion
✅ No threat of fire
✅ No risk to the public

Map Details:

Green shaded area on the map = Repopulation area

Red line = Road closure (Western between Chapman & Garden Grove Blvd.)

Red circle = An exclusion zone to allow hazardous materials teams to continue monitoring the tanks out of an abundance of caution (no residents affected).
