International Fireproof Technology, Inc.

International Fireproof Technology, Inc. State of the art intumescent fire retardants, thermal barrier coatings & firestop systems.

IFTI's products are widely used in oil fields, hospitals, restaurants, nursing facilities, commercial buildings and residential homes. IFTI has an impeccable list of references that will assure you we are people of our word, we maintain a high level of confidentiality, and unlike most coatings manufacturers we have a 70 person development lab that is run by an award winning chemist, who are consis

tently pushing the new product development envelope. Our firestop products and manufacturing facilities are fully certified and listed by UL (R20868) and Warnock Hersey Intertek (20947) meaning our products meet strict QA/QC guidelines and end product is guaranteed to be of consistent quality and performance.

With 25 years in the industry, Houston Bros Spray Foam Insulation continues to deliver high-performance spray foam and coating applications across both large-scale commercial builds and everyday projects. From substrate prep to final coating, every step is handled with consistency and control to meet code and perform long term.

This metal warehouse in Christiansburg, VA required 28 sets of Dynamo 2lb closed-cell spray foam and 360 gallons of DC315 coating, supplied by Dynamo Polyurethane Systems.

A strong example of what it takes to execute at scale without compromising quality.

Watch as Brad Glazier breaks down the difference between cementitious coatings and intumescent solutions like DC315 - from structural fireproofing on steel to thermal barrier protection over spray foam.

Different systems, different purposes, and understanding that difference is key to getting it right on site and staying compliant.

Not all coatings are created for the same job.

DC315 and DC360 are both intumescent, meaning they expand when exposed to heat, but they serve very different purposes.

DC315 is designed for spray foam as a thermal barrier, helping meet code requirements, while DC360 is used as a fire-retardant coating on substrates like wood and gypsum to reduce flame spread.

Understanding the difference is key to choosing the right system and staying compliant on every project.

INSS1440 Fire Barrier Caulk is a single-component, water-based intumescent sealant designed to seal gaps around penetrations, joints, doors and window frames in fire-rated assemblies. Its fast expansion technology fills voids quickly, helping protect against fire, heat transfer, smoke and gases while using less material than traditional firestop caulks.

With strong adhesion to most construction materials, easy installation and long-term tested performance, it’s a reliable solution for achieving code-compliant fire protection across a wide range of applications.

When applying DC315, keep temperatures between 50–90°F (10–32°C) and humidity below 85%, with ideal conditions around 50–65% RH - because higher humidity can slow curing, impact adhesion and lead to performance issues.

Conditions can change quickly during application, so monitor temperature and humidity continuously, not just at the start.

Cutting corners on fire protection might win the bid, but it will cost you later.

Contractors who skip intumescent coatings to stay competitive are increasingly facing failed inspections, costly rework and lost profit as code enforcement tightens. The shift is clear: coatings are no longer an optional add-on, they are a required part of a compliant spray foam system.

Products like DC315 are designed to meet that standard - protecting not just the build, but the people inside it.

Spray foam delivers high-performance insulation, but it must be protected to meet building code.

A thermal barrier is a required layer that separates combustible foam from the interior, helping delay ignition and slow fire spread. This is typically achieved with materials like drywall or intumescent coatings such as DC315, which expand when exposed to heat to form a protective char.

Understanding and applying the correct thermal barrier is essential for both safety and compliance on every project.

We love seeing the finished results of projects protected with IFTI products. A properly installed intumescent system is something to be proud of, and proper documentation makes it even stronger.

Job Work Records help track application conditions, thickness readings, and environmental data to confirm compliance with your Building Official or Authority Having Jurisdiction. If questions ever arise, documented proof of installation can protect both the contractor and the project.

Visit our website to fill out our job record form to keep track of your installs, ensure proper documentation, and get featured on our socials.

When applying DC315, measuring your wet film thickness (WFT) is key to both performance and profitability.

WFT should be checked during application, ideally within the first few minutes, to ensure you’re hitting the required thickness for code compliance. This allows you to adjust spray speed, passes and technique in real time.

Too little product can risk failing inspection. Too much can cut into your margins.

By measuring and recording your WFT, you’re not only protecting the integrity of the coating, but also creating clear documentation for your AHJ and keeping your job efficient from start to finish.

A project of this scale doesn’t leave room for shortcuts.

West Roofing Systems, Inc. took on the challenge of insulating and protecting an abandoned steel mill, covering more than 492,000 square feet of surface area. With tight timelines, complex site conditions and multiple trades working simultaneously, precision and coordination were critical every step of the way.

From installing over 1.3 million board feet of spray foam to applying DC315 to meet code requirements, this project demanded performance at every level. Height restrictions, structural obstacles and environmental conditions all added layers of complexity that required smart solutions in the field.

The result is a space that is not only insulated and code-compliant, but built for long-term performance.

This is what it looks like when experience, scale and the right products come together on site.
