The City of Irvine proudly recognizes AAPI Heritage Month this May, celebrating the rich contributions and vibrant cultures of the diverse AANHPI community that shapes our city across art, science, and more. Irvine’s reputation as a thoroughly integrated community makes this acknowledgment especially meaningful. Our office was also pleased to attend Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California’s “Understanding Orange County” convening, where community, civic, academic, and nonprofit leaders discussed regional trends and AAPI rights advocacy. Thank you to all the speakers and organizers for the thoughtful conversation.

Dropped by the Katie Wheeler Library to say hello to our wonderful Irvine Public Library staff! A big thank you to the team for making this historic library such a welcoming, valuable space for everyone. They are doing fantastic work every day to support the Irvine community — handling everything from updating our tech and ordering new materials to keeping a great collection of books and media ready for readers. On top of that, they’re bringing neighbors together through innovative programs like the Library of Things, as well as community events and Storytimes that spark curiosity.

Our journey is far from over. Irvine, a thriving master-planned City, keeps evolving with the needs of its community. I thank everyone, from attending City Council meetings to joining events like Mornings with the Mayor, for helping us build on our strong foundation.

In particular, Kaitlyn and Anvita, high school seniors, are making a meaningful impact by fostering understanding and compassion for those living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Their efforts exemplify the commitment of Irvine’s residents to building a stronger, more inclusive community.

This Memorial Day, we come together to honor and salute the brave souls who have selflessly served and sacrificed for our nation. It’s a heartfelt occasion to reflect on their courage and commitment to safeguarding our freedoms. I thank you for sharing in the 2026 Irvine Memorial Day Ceremonies — a poignant candle lighting at Northwood Memorial and a dignified tribute in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the grand opening of Wonder Studio at Pretend City Children's Museum! 🌟 This new immersive summer art exhibit is now officially open, inviting families to paint, sculpt, build, and explore without limits. This summer, art is all about experiencing, creating, and playing together — and we loved seeing so many young artists in action! 🎨✨

We encourage families to visit through September 7, Tuesday through Sunday, and enjoy a summer full of creativity and fun. Let’s continue to inspire and nurture our community’s young artists!
