The theme for this year's Create Academy is “The Art of Being You!” Mrs. Melinda Barnett, Culinary Art teacher, took this opportunity to lean into our local heritage and focus on traditional Kentucky and Appalachian dishes! The students will be learning about and preparing everything from Chow Chow to Blackberry Cobbler, and even a Kentucky Hot Brown pizza! Good Afternoon, Estill County Engineers!
Just a reminder that our Summer Feeding Program begins today. There are two pickup locations and times. Meals can be picked up at the South Irvine Early Learning Center from 12:00-2:00 and at Estill Springs Elementary from 4:00-6:00.
Meals are no cost and in a convenient grab-and-go format!

Day one of our 2026 Create, STEM, and Reading Academies is officially in the books! 🚀
Our STEM students went hands-on with drones and started building balloon cars, while the Create Academy dove into show rehearsals and cooked up traditional Appalachian chow-chow. Meanwhile, our Reading Academy students kicked off their reading skills with some new approaches!
We can't wait for the next two weeks with these amazing students!

Everyone made it until just after lunch Monday before opening their new MacBook Pros.

These technology professionals from Kentucky K-12 schools statewide will use to continue skills improvement and support nearly $500,000 of new classroom computers they earned to start the new academic year!

Great having both new and existing Dataseam district folks together building competencies, learning more about vital University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center drug discovery running daily on the DataseamGrid comprised of computers they receive, and neighboring districts using USDOL Registered Apprenticeship building Kentucky's rural technology workforce, one student at a time.

Many thanks to the Appalachian Regional Commission, US Department of Labor, Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet, and the Kentucky General Assembly for supporting these efforts!

As we wrapped up another successful school year, Superintendent Charlie Brock treated all district staff to a special Closing Day lunch. With the help of Mr. Cornett, Ronald Mullins, and several staff members, a delicious meal of pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and all the sides was prepared and served.

It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the year and spend time together before everyone heads into the next chapter of summer. Moments like these remind us how fortunate we are to work alongside such dedicated and caring people.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. It was great that our staff had the opportunity to relax, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.

So thankful for our Engineer family! ❤️🖤

On Friday, schools across the district celebrated several outstanding retirees who have dedicated years of service to our students, staff, and community.

Our Central Office staff had the privilege of honoring three amazing retirees: David Rice, Tonya Ford, and Paula Short. Their commitment, hard work, and passion have made a lasting impact on our district, and their contributions will not be forgotten.

We cannot begin to express our gratitude and appreciation for all of our retirees. Thank you for the countless ways you have served, supported, and inspired others throughout your careers.

We wish each of you the very best in this exciting new chapter. Your presence will be greatly missed, but your legacy will continue to be felt for years to come.
