Hoevet Inn

Hoevet Inn Built in 1887 this is the oldest building still standing in Iroquois, SD. After almost 30 years of being vacant watch as we begin to restore it.

Bank of Iroquois was established in 1884, but the building completed construction in January of 1887. Throughout the years it has been may businesses. As most may know the last business was the Funeral Home. Many stories, strange things, and rumors have spread throughout the town of Iroquois of this place including the supposed bones buried in the corner. As we begin restoration on the building I

will be keeping everyone posted on the findings from photos to history. Most the history between the beginning and the end are still yet to be discovered. Join us in learning more of the secretes that lie inside.

It was a slow day today, got the open windows covered. Hopefully, everything will stay up and I can keep moving forward. I know the city has been on me about this place since I've started, but we are holding as strong as we can.

If we get some good news this month...or no news...once the weather warms up we should be able to start rebuilding. I am hoping all will go well and the roof will be repaired along with the windows as well. Hopefully the vandalism will stop and I can open it up for Sports Day weekend for everyone to see inside. I do plan on selling a lot of the stuff inside still if anyone sees anything they like. This will be put towards more repairs and get us closer to being completed.

Thank you everyone for your support and help it is greatly appreciated more than you could know.

Happy new year everyone! Sometime this month I will be meeting with the city for the fate of this building. If everything goes good we can start the work again and hopefully get the major work finished and then start on the details. If it does not go well we will then bring it down. Everything inside will be sold to anyone who wants it, most everything in there at this time is available to anyone anyway, and it will just be another part of history destroyed.

Winter is back again, things have been slower than I was really hoping, but there's not much I can do about that. On the other side of things it is not looking good for this place. Due to the slow pace I am working the city is starting to push to have this place tore down. This was heart breaking news for me and I will continue to do what I can, but I don't want to get any hopes up in case things really do go wrong. I will keep everyone posted on what is to come, if the city can hold off I am hoping to get a lot accomplished by the end of summer. Once things are stable I will have an "open house" type of event and let everyone walk in and look around. Thank you everyone for your support.

Burr Ferry and Evans flood victims are in need of dumpsters for health hazards to place food from freezers and debris from tearing down walls cabinets, furniture and etc. Too much red tape to wait on FEMA OR WHOEVER. The dumpsters are 350.00 each for each time they empty them. They need severa...

Today's update: Things have been going slow, but should start picking up. There will be a rummage sale held in front this spring, however, the pickings won't be much.

I wanted for this building to have a budget with enough to spare to be able to help others who need the help. Evans, LA has had a disaster, flooding has taken most of their homes and very little will be saved.

As part owner of this building I will still be holding a rummage sale, but anything I have that can be used for Evans community will no longer be up for sale. As soon as things are ready to be set up for sale I will let you know.

Our prayers at Hoevet Inn will be for all the victims in Evans.
