Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, military personnel, and everyday Americans wo answered the call in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the families who lost loved ones and the heroes whose bravery and selflessness brought hope during one of our nation's darkest days.

May we never forget. May we continue to stand together as a community and a nation, guided by compassion, courage, and service.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🫡🇺🇸

Self‑neglect is one of the most common—and often overlooked—issues affecting older adults. It can happen quietly and gradually, showing up as missed medications, unsafe living conditions, poor hygiene, isolation, or an inability to manage daily tasks.

Many times, self‑neglect isn’t about unwillingness. It may come from physical challenges, cognitive changes, mental health struggles, or simply not knowing where to turn for help.

If you notice signs of self‑neglect in a loved one or neighbor, reaching out can make a world of difference.

A simple check‑in, a compassionate conversation, or connecting them to local support services might be the first step toward ensuring their safety and well‑being.

Let’s look out for one another.

OhioKAN Launches New Community Learning Series

The Ohio Kinship and Adoption Navigator (OhioKAN) program is proud to introduce a new Community Learning series designed to strengthen support for schools, caregivers, and child and family serving agencies across Ohio. Each session will offer practical guidance, tools, and insights to help community members and professionals better understand and assist kinship and post adoptive families.

September Session: Building Strong Networks for Students & Families

Date/Time: Wednesday, September 23 from 1-2 p.m.

Hosted by: Britney Breidenstein, OhioKAN Co Director

Educators and school staff play an essential role in supporting students from kinship and adoptive families. This no cost webinar will help participants deepen their understanding of caregivers’ unique needs and build confidence in connecting families to resources through OhioKAN.

Participants will:
• Explore the unique needs of kinship and adoptive caregivers
• Learn how to identify students who may benefit from additional support
• Gain confidence referring families to OhioKAN
• Receive an electronic copy of OhioKAN’s Guide to Creating Kinship-Friendly Schools
