There's something exciting happening at the library! Join us as we dig into adventure, creativity, and fun during our Summer Reading Program, "Unearth a Story."

This Week's Youth Events:
Kids Club – Create, explore, and make new friends!
Interactive Movie – Don't just watch the movie... become part of the action!
Fossil Art with the Huntington Museum of Art
Dinolympics – Test your skills in dino-themed games and challenges.
Dungeons & Dragons – Embark on an epic quest with fellow adventurers.

Whether you're discovering fossils, competing in dinosaur games, or exploring fantasy worlds, there's a story waiting to be unearthed at your library!

What an amazing start to our Summer Reading Program! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped us "Unearth a Story" at our Summer Reading Kickoff Party. We are so grateful that you chose to spend part of your day with us as we launched a summer full of reading, discovery, and fun for all ages.

Guests enjoyed games, crafts, face painting by the talented Kaylee Hatton, balloon art from the fabulous Liles Family, and even a special appearance by Briggsy! Congratulations to all of our door prize winners as well.

A special thank you to our wonderful community partners and library supporters who shared activities, information, and donated door prizes: Third and Center , The Common Soil Collective , Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities, Anthem, and COAD Pathways Hub.

We also want to thank DJ Bill Grim Jr. for providing great music throughout the event and the Wildlife & Discovery Center of WV for bringing some fascinating animal friends for everyone to meet.

A huge shoutout goes to our incredible teen volunteers, Elysa Jackson and Kennedi Owens, whose hard work and enthusiasm helped make the event a success.

Thank you again to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, and supported this event. Your enthusiasm helped us kick off what promises to be a fantastic summer filled with stories, learning, creativity, and community. We can't wait to see what adventures you'll discover as we Unearth a Story together this summer!

Unearth the fun with us at our Summer Reading Kick-Off Party!

Join us on Saturday, May 30th at the Ironton Library, from 11 AM–1 PM for an afternoon packed with fun at the library! We will have face painting, a balloon artist, a DJ, crafts, games, and door prizes! You can also get up close with animals from Wildlife & Discovery Center of WV ! A great time to sign-up for our summer reading program, too!

FREE SUMMER MEALS AT THE LIBRARY!

A reminder that Free Summer Meals begin June 1 at Briggs Lawrence County Public Library!

Thanks to our partnership with the Children’s Hunger Alliance, kids and teens can enjoy FREE nutritious meals all summer long at our Ironton and South Point library locations.

Mondays & Thursdays | 12:30–1:30 PM

📍 South Point Library
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays | 12:30–1:30 PM

✅ No registration required
✅ Meals served on-site at the library
✅ Safe, welcoming environment for children & teens

Help us spread the word so every child has access to healthy meals this summer!

This program is funded by the Children’s Hunger Alliance in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture and the Ohio Department of Education.

Sealed bids will be accepted at the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library Fiscal Officer’s Office until 3:00 p.m. June 4, 2026 for the sale of one 28 x 78 modular building unit with skirting, steps, and handicap ramp. There is a minimum bid price of $11,000. Payment by cashier’s check. The unit is currently located at 228 Pvt. Dr. 10010, Proctorville OH 45669 and can be viewed on June 1, 2026 at 5 p.m. Send bids to Fiscal Officer, Briggs Lawrence County Public Library, 321 South 4 th Street, Ironton OH 45638.
