The Ipswich Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) provides planning, training, exercises, and educational outreach programs related to natural and man-made disasters to assist and prepare citizens, government agencies, and private/non-profit organizations prior to, during, and after a local emergency or disaster. The Office also manages the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during any major emergency

or disaster and activates emergency warning systems. IEMA also works as an interagency coordinator in partnership with local, state, federal and private entities to provide comprehensive planning, response, mitigation and recovery capabilities for all hazard potentials facing the Town of Ipswich. Our office is also responsible for emergency communications for the community in the event of a large-scale failure.

Ipswich Public Health Partners with Gloucester and Rockport to Receive Grant Funding to Address Ongoing Opioid Crisis, Support Residents

The Ipswich Public Health Department has partnered with the Rockport and Gloucster Health Departments to form an Opioid Abatement Collaborative to address the opioid crisis by investing $300,000 through expanded treatment access and recovery support. The Collaborative applied for and received a $150,000 grant from the Mosaic Municipal Matching Grant through the RIZE Massachusetts Foundation. As part of the grant funding, Mosaic Opioid Recovery Partnership, which is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, matched contributions from each municipality’s Opioid Settlement Funds....

IPSWICH – Director of Public Health Colleen Fermon reminds the community to participate in the Massachusetts Opioid Abatement Settlement funds survey. The survey will be closed on Friday, April 11. The Town has been receiving municipal abatement payments since 2023. So far, the Town has received approximately $230,000 in funding, and it is estimated that the Town will receive more than $780,000 by 2038....
