The primary goal of the Police Department is protection of life and property, prevention of crime and apprehension of criminal perpetrators.

The Department has a firm adherence to a code of especially moral standards and artistic values. The Department strives with professionalism, honor and integrity to provide the best possible police service to residents of Iowa and to those who work, travel and shop here. We recognize and take pride in our continuous contribution to the quality of life in our community.

Captain Kristi Juarez (Iowa Police Department) and Ashley Williams (Assistant Director for Oaisis A Safe Haven), as a team, were awarded a Faith & Liberty Match Scholarship to attend the 2026 National Crimes Against Women Conference in Dallas, TX.

They are pictured here with Lt. Tomas Juarez (Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office), Neisha Hall and Amanda Verneuille (both who are also with Oaisis A Safe Haven), all who are members of our area’s Multidisciplinary Team.

The training that is being conducted this week includes investigating Domestic Violence and Sexual-Based Crimes, Human Trafficking, Stalking, and some Cybercrimes.

The Iowa Police Department will hold its annual Police Memorial on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 5 pm at the Iowa Community Center.

We will honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, as well as those who have served our community and those who continue to serve it.

This morning, 05/12/2026 at the Louisiana State Police Memorial Ceremony in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Faith (Vincent) Benton read “The Monument” (Poem) as part of the ceremony to honor and remember her uncle, Sr. Trooper Steven Vincent, Troop D, Lake Charles. On August 24, 2015, Sr. Trooper Vincent died as a result of being shot the previous day in the line of duty while assisting with a vehicle in a ditch. Sr. Trooper Vincent was 44 years old and had served for 11 years, 8 months, and 6 days.
