CEDAR RAPIDS PARKWAY

The City of Iowa Colony is notifying residents and the traveling public that Cedar Rapids Parkway will be temporarily closed to allow Brazoria County Precinct 2 Road & Bridge to perform roadway improvements.

ROAD CLOSURE AREA
The closure will affect Cedar Rapids Parkway from the SH 288 South Feeder Road west to Karsten Boulevard.

Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and use the designated detour route during construction.

MOTORISTS TRAVELING IN THIS AREA ARE ASKED TO USE THE FOLLOWING DETOUR:
1. Exit onto Iowa Colony Boulevard and proceed toward Bullard Road.
2. Proceed to Bullard Road and continue west toward Karsten Boulevard.
3. Turn left onto Karsten Boulevard and continue south.
4. Turn right onto Cedar Rapids Parkway.

Please follow all posted detour signs and allow additional travel time while construction is underway.

PROJECT DURATION
The roadway improvement project is anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete. The project schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, including rain delays, or other unforeseen circumstances.

MOTORIST INFORMATION
Expect delays and allow additional travel time.
Use caution when traveling near the construction area.
Follow all posted detour and traffic-control signage.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
The City of Iowa Colony appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while this roadway improvement project is completed. These improvements are intended to enhance the roadway and transportation infrastructure within our community.

For the first time ever, your Iowa Colony Pioneers are taking on the Manvel Mavericks in Friday Night Lights! Tonight's game kicks off at 7:00 PM at Freedom Field.

Expect heavier-than-normal traffic before, during, and after the game.

If you received a jury summons for Thursday, August 27, 2026, you no longer need to appear. The cases you were summoned for have been resolved.

The City of Iowa Colony would like to take a moment to recognize one of our staff members for an outstanding accomplishment.

Sgt. Allen King has successfully earned the Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) designation through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).

Sgt. King’s accomplishment places him among a distinguished group of emergency management professionals who have earned professional certification through the International Association of Emergency Managers. IAEM currently reports just over 3,100 active AEM® and CEM® credential holders worldwide, representing professionals across the United States and internationally. By earning the AEM® designation, Sgt. King joins a select group of emergency management professionals in Texas who have demonstrated a high level of professional knowledge, commitment, and preparedness in the field of emergency management.

The City is extremely proud of Sgt. King for taking the initiative to pursue this designation and for the dedication and perseverance he demonstrated throughout the process.

We are hosting our first Comprehensive Plan Town Hall to meet with residents and hear from them directly about topics such as housing, development, parks, and much more.

Alvin ISD students return to school on Thursday, August 13th. Watch for kids walking and biking to school and pack some extra patience around school zones while everyone adjusts to the school routine.

The Iowa Colony Fire Department has recovered a large black and yellow tool tote containing what appears to be a significant number of valuable professional tools.

We know these tools are likely someone's livelihood, and we'd love to help get them back to their rightful owner.

The tote is being safely held at the Iowa Colony Fire Department 3042 Meridiana Parkway.

To claim it, the owner must be able to provide:
• The brand of the tools
• A general description of the contents of the tote
• The name marked on the tools

If you know someone who may have lost their tools, please share this post to help us reunite them with their owner.
