Iowa City Public Library The Iowa City Public Library is home to knowledge and entertainment for every age.

The Iowa City Public Library has served the people of Iowa City and surrounding communities for more than a century. Located at the intersection of College and Linn Streets on the downtown pedestrian mall, ICPL serves a population of 63,000 residents of Iowa City, and through contract, residents of unincorporated Johnson County, University Heights, Lone Tree, and Hills. The Library is governed by

a semi-autonomous nine member Board of Trustees empowered by state law and city ordinance (Title 11) to set policy, determine goals and objectives, control monies appropriated or given to the Library, and to employ staff. The Library is a city department, Board members are appointed by and principal operating funds approved by the City Council.

In preparation for Hispanic Heritage Month and Banned Books Week, join us to honor both at All Abilities Club on Tuesday, Sep. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Sep. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. Learn about Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and the childhood classic "Ferdinand the Bull," a picture book banned by fascist governments in Spain and Germany.
