When employers commit wage theft, they are stealing workers' time, their labor, their dignity, and their family's future. These brave workers came forward last year with the support of CWJ to demand justice. Wage theft is rampant in Iowa's restaurants, hotels, residential construction, and other sectors - but it doesn't have to be this way. Workers can find out more about their wage payment rights by contacting the University of Iowa Labor Center. Although CWJ is no longer able to help workers experiencing wage theft, local groups like Escucha Mi Voz Iowa are stepping up to do this important work, along with local employment lawyers and state and federal agencies. Help advocate for stronger laws and enforcement so all workers get paid and receive a living wage.
The U.S. Department of Labor sued Mexico Lindo, which has 3 locations in Johnson County, alleging that it paid workers less than minimum wage.
