We were so excited and honored to have Amanda Green from Domestic Violence Intervention Program /RVAP join our BBBS Girl Connection group. Amanda led a discussion about personal safety and shared with our Big and Little Sisters about the Clothesline Project. The Clothesline Project has four goals:

✅To increase awareness of the impact of violence and abuse
✅To help with the healing process of those who have lost loved ones to violence
✅To provide another avenue for survivors to courageously break the silence that often surrounds their experience
✅To provide a nationwide network of support, encouragement, and information for individuals and communities that have been impacted by violence

Our Matches were able to create their own t-shirts with powerful messages to contribute to this important project. We were grateful for this opportunity to partner with DVIP-RVAP and for the critical work they are doing to help make all of us safer.

Another Tuesday means another match story! 💚 Tyler and Deon have been matched for over two years and love to hang out together. One of their favorite sports to play is basketball and football. When they're not playing sports, they enjoy talking about sports. Tyler said "I see way more potential in him than he sees in himself ... I've seen how caring, thoughtful and talented he can be if he sets his mind to something."

Tyler and Deon have a great balance of having fun yet also learning how to navigate life. "I find myself wanting to be better in my own life to be a better role model. Like sometimes I should try to follow the advice that I am giving. If I can't do it, why should he listen to me? So, while I'm coaching him through life, I'm kind of coaching myself, as well." Tyler stated. Tyler is now coaching Deon's tackle football team, so they get to enjoy football together multiple times a week now.
