UIHC is the first in the state to give Iowans with epilepsy access to a new, minimally invasive surgical technology. The technology reduces risks and allows for speedier recovery times.

University of Iowa Health Care is using a minimally invasive surgical technology called laser interstitial thermal therapy, a procedure that one UI neurosurgeon says could become “the gold standard of care” for patients with epilepsy.

Brady Jorgensen has lived with a brain tumor for most of his life. Our new Pediatric Brain Tumor Clinic, the first of its kind in Iowa, is giving Brady and his family new hope.
