UPDATE: Due to rainfall earlier this week, an additional day has been added to the prescribed burn operations at Fort Hunter Liggett.

Today’s burn block will be highly visible from the Jolon Road area. Motorists are advised to use caution if Jolon Road is part of their daily commute, as smoke may impact visibility along the roadway.

These prescribed burns help reduce hazardous vegetation and improve landscape resiliency while supporting military training operations.

🔥 Incident Update: The in South Monterey County is now 100% contained at 3.9 acres.

Firefighters will remain on scene to strengthen containment lines, extinguish remaining hotspots, and ensure the area is safe before returning to quarters.

Unfortunately, several outbuildings and vehicles were damaged during this incident.

Thank you to all responding personnel for their quick and coordinated efforts to keep this fire small and protect the surrounding community.

🚨 Vegetation Fire Response – Parkfield Area 🚨

CAL FIRE firefighters are currently on scene of a vegetation fire in the community of Parkfield in southern Monterey County.

Firefighters are actively working to contain the incident and protect nearby communities and natural resources.

Please avoid the area and use caution if traveling nearby to ensure the safety of emergency personnel and responding equipment.

🚜 Indirect Attack – Crews build strategic control lines ahead of the fire, creating defensible areas and opportunities to safely contain the incident while protecting homes and infrastructure.

🚁 Air Operations – Helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft support ground resources with water and retardant drops, helping slow fire growth and strengthen containment efforts.

🚨 NEW INCIDENT: 5/30/26 🚨

The , located just south of Hollister near the community of Tres Pinos, is currently approximately 30 acres and burning in grass.

Firefighters from CAL FIRE and the City of Hollister Fire Department are actively engaged in suppression efforts and working to contain the fire.

Please avoid the area, follow directions from emergency personnel, and stay tuned for official updates as information becomes available.

🪢🚒 Training for the Tough Rescues

Over the past week, CAL FIRE personnel participated in a Rope Rescue Awareness Operations course on the Monterey Peninsula, building the skills needed to respond when emergencies occur in challenging terrain.

This hands-on training focused on the fundamentals of technical rope rescue, including system setup and rescue operations for incidents involving cliffs, steep embankments, and other hard-to-reach locations. These specialized skills help ensure our crews are prepared to safely assist those in need when every second counts.

A big thank you to our training cadre for delivering a high-quality training experience and helping strengthen our all-risk response capabilities.

As temperatures rise and vegetation continues to dry out across our region, the risk of wildfire starts increases significantly. Everyday equipment and vehicles can generate sparks capable of igniting a fast-moving fire.

CAL FIRE urges everyone to stay vigilant when working or recreating outdoors:

🔥 Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass
🔥 Keep chains, mowers, and equipment clean and properly maintained
🔥 Complete mowing and w**d trimming early in the day, before temperatures peak
🔥 Use caution with trailers, welding equipment, and anything that may create sparks
🔥 Stop work immediately if weather and fire conditions become unsafe

It only takes one spark to start a wildfire. Do your part to help keep our communities safe this fire season.
